About Genuine
The Genuine World Cup debuted in Houston, Texas, in the summer of 2024 as an international soccer tournament promoting inclusion for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and autism. Featuring 12 teams from the U.S., Mexico, Portugal, and Spain, the event emphasized the power of sports to foster community and break down barriers. Matches were held at Rice University and Shell Energy Stadium, with FC Barcelona claiming the first-ever title.

Beyond the competition, the tournament hosted Genuine Connect, a forum at Rice University focused on expanding opportunities for individuals with IDD in sports, education, and employment. The event successfully showcased soccer’s ability to unite diverse communities and create meaningful change.

This summer, the Genuine World Cup is back with its second edition to be held again in Houston, Texas.
